The Rock Physics license has received signification functionality and workflow improvements in RokDoc 2025.1. This software release focuses on making it easier to share and reproduce critical cross-plotting, log prediction, and seismic interpretation workflows that help the geoscientist deliver instant value to their teams.
We continue to makes sure that the time spent in the software is informative and that users discover and share a deeper understanding of geoscience data.
User Defined Plot
In this update, we've introduced a user-defined plot feature, offering unparalleled customization for data visualization. Users can now tailor plots to their specific needs, adjusting parameters and layouts to highlight key insights effectively. This flexibility enhances the ability to present data in a clear and impactful way, empowering users to create visualizations that truly align with their objectives.
Users can create and save templates for their projects, ensuring uniformity across different visualizations and analyses. This capability not only saves time but also facilitates collaboration by allowing teams to easily share and apply standardized workflows.
By utilizing templates, users can maintain a consistent and cohesive approach to data presentation, improving both efficiency and communication within teams. A set of templates for Data QC, QI Rock Physics and Geomechanics have been included with RokDoc for this release.
Gather Track in AVO Wedge Modeler
We've introduced a new feature in the Blocky AVO function: the gather track integrated with the wedge modeler. This enhancement offers a powerful way to visualize and analyze AVO (Amplitude Versus Offset) responses, providing deeper insights into the effects of tuning.
The gather track is a dynamic tool that displays AVO responses across different offsets, in this case, as the wedge thickness varies. This feature allows geoscientists to observe how seismic amplitudes change with both offset and thickness, offering a clear view of tuning effects. Traditionally, the AVO half-space plot shows the AVO response for a single interface or layer. By integrating the gather track responses into this plot, users can now visualize the impact of tuning in a more comprehensive manner.
This integration enhances visualization by allowing direct comparison of how wedge thickness variation influences AVO response, providing a broader view of tuning effects. Tuning occurs when the thickness of a layer causes constructive or destructive interference of reflections. The combined plot makes it easy to identify these effects, as amplitude changes with thickness are clearly depicted. This visualization method simplifies the interpretation of complex AVO behavior, aiding in more accurate predictions and understanding of subsurface properties.
The results are easily added to the the AVO plot for comparison with synthetic responses. How are tuning and rock property uncertainty related?
By leveraging the gather track with the wedge modeler, geoscientists can effectively analyze and interpret the impact of tuning on seismic data. This new feature is set to enhance subsurface modeling, leading to more precise and reliable geological insights. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to innovate and improve our tools for the geoscience community!
Confusion Matrix
We've introduced the new confusion matrix function in the compare logs interface, designed to enhance your ability to compare predicted facies logs with reference logs. This is an essential quality control in any classification workflow and provides detailed insights into the accuracy and trends of your predictions.
The confusion matrix is a powerful tool that allows you to evaluate how well your predicted facies match the reference logs. It not only shows the overall accuracy of your classification but also highlights specific trends in misclassification. By examining which facies are frequently confused, you can gain insights into potential areas for improvement in your model.
One of the key features of this tool is its ability to filter results by well and working interval. This means you can focus on specific areas of interest, which makes it easier to identify patterns and issues that may be localized to certain wells or intervals. This level of granularity is crucial for fine-tuning your classification models and ensuring they perform optimally across different geological settings.
The new confusion matrix tool is an essential addition for any classification workflow. It provides a clear and detailed view of classification performance, helping you refine your models and achieve more accurate geological interpretations. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to enhance the compare logs interface for expanded workflows and log types!
Deep QI - Exploratory Data Analysis
We're also excited to announce enhancements to our Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) function in Deep QI, making it even more powerful for handling large datasets. With the addition of tabs, you can now efficiently view results for hundreds of wells, streamlining your analysis process.
The EDA tool now includes dedicated tabs for violin and box plots, allowing you to easily visualize value distributions for all input logs in a single run. This feature provides a comprehensive overview of your data and helps you to quickly identify patterns and outliers.
A significant new EDA capability is to use imputation to predict missing logs in the data table. This feature accelerates project start-up by providing a complete dataset from the outset. To ensure consistency and reliability, the imputed logs maintain the same data statistics as the group data. This makes it an excellent first step for more sophisticated machine learning log prediction and geoscience workflows.
As before, the tool automatically generates a flag log to indicate where data have been predicted, which offers transparency and traceability in your analysis. This ensures you always know which parts of your dataset have been imputed, maintaining the integrity of your workflow.
Overall, these enhancements make the EDA tool an indispensable resource for geoscientists, providing a solid foundation for further analysis and modeling.
We invite you to explore all the new Rock Physics and Deep QI options we've introduced. Your feedback and enthusiasm drive us to keep innovating, and we can't wait to see how these tools enhance your workflows. Dive in and discover the possibilities!
